33 weeks 4 Days

Dear Cadence,

Well Mommy and Daddy had quite the scare last night, Diesel started to get really really sick. He was throwing up and not really moving around too much, Mommy thought we were going to loose him. At around 8pm I called the vet, he said to just keep him away from food and water and watch him. If things got any worse then I was to call him back. So we went to bed and put Diesel on his dog bed, surrounded by towel, just in case. And then at around 11pm i woke up to him throwing up again... I quickly went to his side and tried to comfort him. Poor little guy didn't even try to get up, he just threw up all over his paws. So by this time I was very worried, I called the vet again and he said he would meet us at the clinic in 20 minutes. Daddy wrapped Diesel up in a towel and off we went.

When we got to the vet, he told us that he was concerned that maybe Diesel had Parvo... which is very serious. The vet said if he does have it then he will be kept at the clinic for quite some time and put on all kinds of meds. He tested Diesel for Parvo (by putting a cotton swab up his bum, poor guy was not very happy) then he went to complete the test and came back with the good news, DIESEL DOES NOT HAVE PARVO! Mommy and Daddy were so happy, I could have cried!

Since he was clear from Parvo, then what could it be?! The vet examined him... listened to his heart, checked his belly, and checked his temperature (which again was done by putting the thermometer up his bum, he was none too impressed!) and everything came out great. The vet weighed him and he is already a whopping 31lbs... he's going to be a big boy! After all the vet thinks that he just had a tummy ache... maybe he got some salt from the road onto his paws and licked it off, or he could've eaten something he wasn't supposed to.

So the vet sent us home with a $220 bill and a bag of Gastrol dog food... we are to only give him a small amount of water every couple of hours and feed him around 1/4 cup of food 4-5 times today. If he keeps the food and water down, then tomorrow we can increase the portions.

Now Diesel is asleep at Mommy's feet and snoring away! He seems to be a lot better today, he has been outside twice and in good spirits! Him and Cuda have had a little run around the house and now I guess it's nap time :) Cuda has retreated to his safe place, Mommy and Daddy's bed... he knows Diesel can't get up there yet :)

As for Mommy's plans today... I just plan to keep a very close eye on Diesel and rest, I am so tired! Today will be a lazy day :) I love you Cadence!

Love Mommy
